The Foundation reaches out to the Winnetka community with three major annual events: the Carlson Event, Phone-A-Thon and Hour of Code. The Carlson Event offers community members an opportunity to see their donations at work in Winnetka’s public schools, while Phone-A-Thon is the Foundation’s major fundraiser. Hour of Code is our chance to showcase some of our innovative grants. To learn more about these events, keep reading!
The annual Carlson Event allows the Foundation to educate the community about the types of grants we fund and the work this allows our educators to do. This event allows parents and educators to interact so that parents come away with a clearer understanding of what the Foundation does, and educators can get a sense of what is important to parents in the district. This event was enabled by a generous gift left to the Foundation in 2002 by Charlotte Carlson, a long time educator in the Winnetka Public School System. This year’s event was held on Thursday, January 17th 2019, at the Garden Room in the Winnetka Community House. District 36 educators showcased how Foundation grants enable them to create exciting learning opportunities for their students. The Foundation was also thrilled to host Trung Le, a world renowned educational architect, who spoke to the importance of learning space design as the "third teacher". The event was a great success and we look forward to an equally exciting Carlson Event next year!

WPSF held its annual Phone-A-Thon on Sunday, February 24th, 2019. We appreciate all the generous support!
If you missed our call, remember it’s never too late to donate—we welcome your donation and your support! Click here to make an online donation.
The Phone-A-Thon is the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. Donations received from the Phone-A-Thon fund innovative pilot programs, extensions to the core curriculum, and other exciting efforts in Winnetka's District 36. Your donations make it possible for Winnetka's students to receive an education that goes above and beyond what is possible through tax dollars alone. Every donation, regardless of size, makes an impact!
Hour of Code (WPSF supports coding in the district!)
WPSF participated in the District's Hour of Code in December, 2018 in the Crow Island Makerspace. We were thrilled to showcase some of the innovative grants that support the teaching and learning of computer coding. Click to learn more about these grants.
