Winnetka Public Schools Foundation
The goal of the Winnetka Public Schools Foundation is to enhance the outstanding education of our District. The Foundation was begun in 1995 as a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to enrich and extend the educational mission of the community’s public schools beyond the means of conventional public funding.
Since its inception, the Foundation has provided over $4.2 million in funding support to the school district. Our average annual contribution to the Winnetka Public School district has historically been about $300,000. Even in the challenging economic climate of 2008, the Foundation was able to raise over $150,000.
With these generous donations from the Winnetka community, the Foundation expands our District’s multi-disciplinary emphasis, brings programs to teachers and students that would otherwise not be possible and provides numerous opportunities for ongoing learning and creativity. The Foundation is widely supported by parents of students and the community at large. The Foundation is very proud of the impact its programs have on our children each and every day – both in the “traditional” academic sense and in the area of social and emotional learning – areas that are equally important in educating and developing our children.
In addition to providing programs that otherwise would not be possible, the community support for the Foundation helps us continue to attract the cadre of teachers that seek to work in our District. The Foundation has earned the respect of other foundations both here in Illinois and nationally.
